WinTrans 9.4 ignores some translations from X8

Hello phild,

RC-WinTrans 9 was configured to make known the DevExpress properties ".Caption" and ".Description" as text to be translated.
Before: This properties have been added to the database as of restype "Unkonwn" (restype="x-unknown").

As a result of the "changed" resource tpye, the update module of RC-WinTrans takes the item as a new item. A previous entry in the database (with restype="x-unknown") will be removed and the item added as new item with the appropriated resource type. For the update module, a change of the resource type is the same as it is an other item as before.

A translation for this DevExpress items is going lost when the item is added newly with the correct resource type.
We are very sorry for having any troubles and the need to retranslate this items.

What is it what you are doing when you say ".. when importing translations from an xlf file" ?
Is your source file an XLIFF file? What means "importing translations" ?

In your previous data file the trans-unit was set as not to be translated: translate="no"
This means that the target text ("10A") was still set as not to be used. RC-WinTrans does not remove the target text when a transl-unit is set as not to be translated.
The target could also removed for the previous trans-unit.

It is not clear to me what have been the processes (command, function) for getting the trans-unit to the right.
I think a reason could be that the trans-unit was set as not to be translated. But on the other hand the trans-unit was added newly (!) (state="new") by RC-WinTrans.

Is the data file (trans-unit left side) created by RC-WinTrans X8? The other one to the right with RC-WinTrans 9?

Please answer my questions. Maybe this can help me.

Thank you. I will contact you via email.
Please try to create your exe/dll for an other target language. Is it working for an other language?

Very good. Thank you very much to let us know.

"License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment."
...it is (1) the version of the common control MSCOMCTL.ocx
and (2) missing license entries for this ocx in the Windows registry.

Our fix :
http://www.schaudin.com/forum_srv/topic242-vb-error-system-error-h80040111-2147221231.aspx?MessageID=525#post525

We are still updating the setup for RC-WinTrans 9.4 to install an up-to-date MSCOMCTL.ocx (6.1.98.34) and to add the required license entries to the Windows registry.

Hello rschumann,

the documentation for the Import and Export command line commands are not correct for the add-on version 3.

We have updated the documentation and the release notes:
http://rc-wintrans.schaudin.com/addons/excel/Index.htm#ReleaseNotes.htm

And:
There is also a bug in Export command line function (fails and returns -1).
It is fixed now. New add-on version: "V3.4 (October 2014)"

I will send you the fixed macro file (ExcelImportExportAddOnV3.macro).

What is the disadvantage to use RWTXLF

Support
Support

When using XML data files (.rwtxlf) then there is for each source file and for each language one XML data file. The data file is located in the same folder as the source file.

There are no disadvantages. There are just a number of data files but this files are XML files you can open and look into. And you can add this XML files to a source code control system.

The database file (.fsmdb) is an Access database keeping all XML data files (for all source files and for all languages) together.

The size and the indexes of an .fsmdb database (MS Access database) is optimized with an MS Access function each time the database (RC-WinTrans project) is closed.

Usually there are no such problems as you describe it.

Maybe there are data left in the database which are not valid and not used any more? Maybe.
You can send us your .fsmdb database file for a check if you want. E-Mail: support@schaudin.com

A project's data storage can be changed by command.

.fsmdb Database <-> XML data files (.rwtxlf)

RC-WinTrans 9.4:
Close all projects (all MDI views) and use
"Tools" | "Maintenance" | "Convert Translation Project (XML <> DB)..."

WARNING: Could not find matching target bitmap...

This is a warning from the RC files converter when writing a translated Win32 EXE/DLL.

The ("translated") target Icon #710 does not have the same dimension (width, hight) and/or not the same colors like the source Icon.
The converter compares the source and the target icon to have the same dimensions and the same colors.

Suggestion: Do not create an new target icon. Make a copy of the source icon, edit this copy and use the copy as the ("translated") target icon. Then it has the same size and the same colors.

You are right. Thank you for posting this information.
It is only the database (.fsmdb) which is touched when a project is opened (witout editing anything).
Projects using XML data files (.rwtxlf) as data storage are not changed.

We have fixed this "changing database" behaviour for RC-WinTrans 10 (February 2015). It is also be planed to
release an update for RC-WinTrans 9.4 in February 2015.

Error writing in ribbon with Win Trans 10

Support
Support

Hello Daniel,

It is the target file path used for the target XML file.

Two reasons causing the problem..
1. you've opened a project on an other machine (on a server) and
2. your RC-WinTrans project (.rwtproject, .fsmdb) is not in a folder below the
destination file. This makes a "backward directory" (..\) is used in the path.

Example (target file path):
\\ServerName\RootDirVC\Recursos\PVT_ES\..\PVT_EN\

This (1 and 2) causing an error in the XML converter macro of RC-WinTrans.
Only XML files are affected. The problem exist also for RC-WinTrans 9.

Possible Workarounds:
--------------------------------
1 . in the "Target File Name" dialog use a target path which does need to use a "backward directory" (..\") .
2. in the "Target Files" dialog use "Write selected as..." to create the translated XML file.

Fix:
-----------------------------
We have a fixed version of the XML converter macro.
File: "XMLConverter.macro"
Folder: .\RC-WinTrans\RC-WinTrans 10\VBAMacros\
Macro file version: "XML-2031 (April 2015)"

RWTCmd.exe hanging with /UpdateAll

Hello Reiner,

A problem that /UpdateAll process "hangs" is still not known.
The /Update (or (/UpdatAll) process is an intensive process which consumes/uses many resources (RAM, objects, COM objects, XML data. And time.).

Questions:
Do you call /UpdateAll only once or also for other languages before using /WriteAllTargetFiles ?
What type of files are in the project? .NET assemblies? How many files?
