Topic:
Update files reference

Hi,
I have a huge RCWintrans project with more than 500 files.
The folder structure changed and I would like to know if it's possible to update the "file reference" properties by script or macro.
It will be very time consuming and risky to do this file by file throught the interface.
I tried to open the fsmdb with msAccess, and changed the "FileName" in the ""SourceFiles" Table, but when I open the project then, I got an error "file not exist...'
Thanks for the help

Thanks a lot

Word count in RC Wintrans 6 or 7

Hi,
I'm looking a way to have a wordcount, with
Total (words)
Repetition (words)
Translated (words)
Changed (words)
For each file in an active project
Ideally, the result will be accessible in Excel or in an XML

Do you think thart it's possible by script or any other way

JM

Word count in RC Wintrans 6 or 7

Hi,
Thank you but in RCW9, I don't see a way to have a complete report, with, for a project, all the statistics for each file.
I have project with hundreds of files and i cannot do the statistics manually for each file. This is why I'm looking for a way to get a full report.
The code should exist as it's a loop of the "extra functions->statistics file" for each files of an active project. Can you help me on this?
Thank you

JM

Hi,

This is really a great improvement. Thanks a lot

However, I still have a couple of remarks:
- the relative path is missing. When we have some files with same filename in differents foldrsr, we cannot identify them
- the goal is to have the result in excel, to make operations. It's difficult to copy/paste the result when we have hundreds of files. Any ouput file will be helpfull (txt, csv, xml, xlsx...)
-When we select "Statistics->Active Projects", we only have the current language. (cosmetic)

Thanks again for your support

Script error on Windows 8.1

When we open RC-Wintrans 9.2 and 9.3 on Windwos 8.1, there is a "Script Error" during the start page loading.
This error occurs for each HTML UI page with a "RCWintrans.application" call.

Script error on Windows 8.1

Hi,
I have the same behaviour than Amber: "RC-wintrans ActiceX Control is available". BTW, as I already wrote, I moved the script from "ExportToExcel.htm" to a macro, and I'm able to run it (I have an issue with the import!)
As I explained in the email, it's probably a new security feature blocking unsigned activeX control in a html page.
Let me know if you need more infos and don't hesitate to ask me more feedback

"RCWintrans9.exe has stopped working" on huge proj

Hi,

I used RCW on huge projects.
One contains more than 650 files, 60000 strings, 9 target languages.
And it become very difficult to work with it: When I try to open it, I often get an error message "RCWintrans9.exe has stopped working"
RCW takes 1h30 to open the "Target files" dialog and I cannot "write all" as the used memory grows up until the crash (1.1 Gb)

Is there a way to optimze MDBs when we work on projects for a long time, and when they are now huge? Splitting the project will not be an option as we lose too many benefits.

Thank you

JM

Configuration: RCW 9.4.0.71, Windows 8.1 64-bit, 8Gb Ram ; Projects saved on local drives.

Shift in new "Export to Excel" feature

jmv
Hi,
I installed the RCW 9.4.0.71 on Windows 8.1, and so, I used the new Excel export feature.
In some case, there is a shift in the excel file. So we cannot use the excel file
I'm sending the RCw project and export by email
Thank you
JM

Hi,
No, I never used the possibility to display more than one target language. But I think the error come from the fact that RCW has some issues to handle project with 60000 strings.

"Error: Failed to remove Unicode BOM from file"

Hi,
In the RCWintrans 9.4, we can choose to write an Unicode file without BOM.
This is great as many properties files must be generated without BOM.
Until the v9.4, I had to do a post process, removing BOM.
However, when I tried this new feature (UTF-8 no BOM), I got the following message in the output pane "Error: Failed to remove Unicode BOM from file", and the generated file was not valid.

Screen Capture

JM

Projects List missing (9.4)

Hi,

We the new V9.4, the "Project Overview" pane does not show projects list, when there are in the "Start Page"
This is not a big issue, but I don't know how to remove a project now, as before, I right clicked on the project name in the "Project Overview" pane, and choose "Remove".
(on windows 7 and 8.1)

Screen Capture

Thanks,

Hi,
Thanks for the quick answer
However, the built file is not valid.
The BOM is moved at the end of file
I sent you by email the files, generated by RCW 9.3 and 9.4.

Hi,
Thank you for the answer.
Splitting by language is very frustating as we have severals tasks to perform globally (ie exclude strings). And the QA cross languages is very usefull.
Splitting the file set is also a issue to maintain consistency, terminology.
To illustrate the issue I got in the excel export, I used your process (Export Translation Process) to show you the shift on only 1 file.
The generated project file contains only 1 small properties, but its size is about 212 Mb! (I sent it to you by email)

I think we should be able to compact and optimize (as we can do it in Access) the DB
